Medicines Optimisation is a system of processes that determines how medicines are used by patients within the NHS. The Pharmacy department at RNOH is involved in the clinical assessment, monitoring and review of individual patients as well as being responsible for overseeing medicines prescribing, usage, audit, risk management, formularies, guidelines and policies.
All aspects of Medicines Optimisation are detailed within the Medicines Policies. The aim of these Policies is to ensure that:
- Trust activity is compliant with current legislation / guidelines
- Provides a framework for teaching, training, audit and future development
- Encourage safe systems of work for staff and therefore protect patients and staff by reducing risk and the potential for error.
