Orthotics
Orthotics is a specialty within the medical field concerned with the design, manufacture and application of externally applied devices (formally termed as “orthoses” but sometimes called “splints” or “braces”) onto the body. These are used to modify the structural and functional characteristics of the neuromuscular and skeletal system.
The Orthotics Department at RNOH is supported by a team of experienced orthotists and orthoses are manufactured on site in the centre's workshops. We specialise in assessing and managing complex problems and work with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, especially orthopaedic surgeons and physiotherapists.
The main Orthotics Department is located on the hospital site at Stanmore. A satellite Orthotics Department also operates at Bolsover Street Central London Assessment Centre. Bolsover Street and Stanmore clinic hours are 8:30-4:30pm Monday-Friday.
Reception hours are from:
Monday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Tuesday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Wednesday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Thursday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Orthotic outpatient clinics run every weekday and require scheduled appointments.
If you need to collect your Orthosis this can be done during the reception hours.

OPUS aims to establish a network of peer support and a positive working relationship between users, centre clinicians and the Trust, providing opportunities for feedback, voicing concerns and sharing ideas.
