The service is run by the Acute Pain Nurse specialist, led by Consultant Anaesthetists with a special interest in acute pain management. Consultant ward rounds are four times a week which are supplemented by daily nurse led rounds, supported on occasions by a pharmacist.
The service covers both adults and children.
A full range of post operative analgesia options are available at RNOH, including Patient Controlled Analgesia, peripheral nerve block, epidural infusion, oral and topical medication and non-drug treatments.
