The unit may discuss recruitment to a clinical trial with patients if it is felt to be appropriate.

Mr Matt Welck studied medicine at Leeds University Medical School and graduated in 2002. He obtained fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2013.

His specialist foot and ankle fellowships included 6 months in Windsor, then 6 months at the Foot and Ankle unit at the RNOH, Stanmore.  He then undertook a combined clinical and research fellowship at the internationally renowned Foot and Ankle Institute, Baltimore, USA under Dr Mark Myerson.

He has been a consultant at the RNOH since July 2016. He specialises purely in disorders of the foot and ankle. The RNOH is a national centre of excellence dealing with complex cases that have been referred from centres all over the United Kingdom.  He works closely with radiologists, physiotherapists, podiatrists, chiropodists, specialist nurses, orthotics and anaesthetists to provide optimum care to patients
