Hip and knee replacement, rehabilitation and cartilage transplantation

Primary, complex primary and revision knee replacements. Partial knee replacement. Treatment of infected knee replacements. Knee ligament reconstruction. Arthroscopic knee surgery and meniscal repair. Knee preservation surgery including osteotomies, cartilage surgery and meniscal transplantation. Patellofemoral instability surgery including patellar realignment and trochleoplasty.

Chethan Jayadev read medicine at Oxford University (Magdalen College) and gained higher surgical training in Trauma & Orthopaedics on the Royal London Hospital Programme. He returned to Oxford University to undertake a DPhil (PhD), focussing on the biology of knee osteoarthritis. After his training, Chethan completed three specialist surgical fellowships. He spent one year at Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland, Australia focusing on hip & knee reconstruction and sports knee surgery. On returning to the UK, he undertook two further specialist knee surgery fellowships at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford and the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. 

Chethan’s practice encompasses all aspects of knee surgery, from sports injuries and knee preservation to complex joint replacements. 

Chethan continues to engage in research. His interests include: surgical innovation and technology in knee surgery; kinematic alignment in knee replacement; factors affecting surgical outcomes in knee surgery; basic science of cartilage and osteoarthritis. Chethan is well-published in peer-review journals, presents at national and international conferences and has authored several book chapters.
