Dr Amary qualified from Santa Casa Medical School (Sao Paulo, Brazil) in 1994. She was appointed consultant histopathologist in 1998 for one of the busiest tertiary hospitals in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She completed her MPhil (2001) and PhD (2007) with focus in molecular genetics of sarcomas. From 1998 she has also undertaken academic responsibilities first as a lectured to Santa Casa Medical School and subsequently as an Associate Professor of Pathology (2008-2010).
In early 2010 she moved to UK after being appointed consultant histopathologist at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.
In 2011 she was appointed honorary senior lecturer at University College London.
