Data Subject Access Requests (SARs)
You can make a Data Subject Access Request (SAR) in writing or verbally. Examples of information that you can access include: health records, staff records, or the entire personal information held by our Trust about you.
You do not have to tell us the reason for your request but we have to check your identity.
We have one calendar month to respond to SARs but the clock will start only once identity checks have been completed.
Under the Access to Health Records Act 1990, you may have the right to see what has been written about a deceased patient in the Trust and their other health records. We have 40 days to respond beginning with the date of application and access is available to:
- The patient’s personal representative (this will be the executor of the will or the administrator of the estate)
- Any person who may have a claim arising out of the patient’s death (requests made via a solicitor).
