Stanmore Open Day

This is an annual event provides a rare opportunity to see behind the closed doors of a world-leading specialist hospital. Attractions include:

  • step into the operating theatre
  • visit and explore our rehabilitation and therapy facilities
  • visit the UCL departments on site to learn more about assistive technology, new implants being designed and how we learn to improve the next generation of implants from analysing retrieved implants.
  • meet some of our amazing clinicians as well as UCL scientists and engineers based at Stanmore who are developing new ways to help patients.

The event is open to anyone of any age, allowing members of the public an understanding of what we do. Patients and public have the opportunity to see our hospital in a different way and we hope to inspire young people to take up careers in clinical research & innovation or consider working within a hospital as an opportunity to realise their skills and potential. Modern healthcare provides many interesting opportunities in technology development, which has the ability to transform lives.

In the past we few years we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming some excellent speakers including Professor Noel FitzpatrickMaggie Philbin OBE, and Professor Mark Miodownik and hope to continue with this tradition.

Our speakers, the staff who volunteer to organise and deliver the day, hope to inspire and share what goes on at the Stanmore site every day of the week.
